Z-MODULE-H-LAB

The ideas competition for the old staff houses of the Triemli Hospital in Zurich was initiated by ZAS*. The aim of the competition was to collect ideas for the conversion of the three towers to show that demolition would not be more sensible. The city of Zurich should be sensitized by the submitted 45 projects

To participate in the competition it was important to have a team. Therefore, the first person I contacted was Simon Iseeli (interior designer and building biologist) from studioomni. To create order in the "chaotic" structure of the towers, a facility manager, Stephanie Riehm, was involved. In their role as external consultants, we were supported by Stefanie Pfändler, who has experience as a social consultant, and Alex Furgiuele as a graphic designer.

In the end, we were able to deliver a project in which the structure of the towers was least affected by the reconstruction. An important point was to sort the spaces by use and not by user*. We did not want to create "classes", but to consider everyone equally. The autonomous tower is used as an autonomous space without involving the city or other associations.
